We'd like to remind readers that the responses to queries are usually
best posted to the individual asking the question. That individual is
then strongly encouraged to post a summary to the list. This policy was
instituted to help control the huge volume of mail on LINGUIST; so we
would appreciate your cooperating with it whenever it seems appropriate.
In addition to posting a summary, we'd like to remind people that it
is usually a good idea to personally thank those individuals who have
taken the trouble to respond to the query.
To post to LINGUIST, use our convenient web form at

Subject: query: morph. & synt. tools English
Hello,
I am looking for public domain (for University usage) morphological
and syntactical software for English (on Mac OS X or PC - preference
for Mac)
I usually work on the French language, and use tools such as Cordial,
Nomino, Termino, etc.
However, I am currently on sabbatical in Australia (UTS, Sydney) and
need tools for English.
I would be grateful if anyone has anything interesting.
Kind regards,
Rachel Panckhurst.

Dear colleagues,
I wonder if you could direct me to literature on acquisition of Case
and Number (preferably, but not exclusively, in Slavic) and,
particularly, on the interaction of the two.
I am familiar with a number of studies, but neither of them examines
the interaction of Number and Case in acquisition, e.g. Babyonyshev
(1993) "Acquisition of the Russian Case System"; Muller (1994) "Gender
and Number Agreement within DP"; Stenzel (1994) "Case Assignment and
Functional Categories in Bilingual Children"; Clahsen et al. (1994)
"The Seeds of Structure".
Please send your replies to galinag at bgumail.bgu.ac.il .
Thanking you all in advance,
Galina Gordishevsky
