Subject:  Gender and Normativity in Spoken Language

I would appreciate references to research that support the hypothesis
that women's speech more closely reflects standard or
normative/prescriptive forms than men's language in general and in
Spanish in particular. Although I am specifically interested in
empirical studies of prosody, I would like references for both
quantitative and qualitative research on all levels of language from
phonetics/phonology to discourse/pragmatics. I will post a summary.
