Dear colleagues,

The School of Translation and Interpretation at the University of
Geneva delivers three postgraduate degrees in multilingual information
processing and terminology. These postgraduate programs (in French),
are aimed mainly at translators and interpreters who would like to
take advantage of recent advances in multilingual IT. Details are
appended below.

Description of the Postgraduate Programs

The School of Translation and Interpretation at the University of
Geneva delivers three postgraduate degrees in multilingual information
processing and terminology: two DESS (diplômes d'études supérieures
spécialisées) and one DEA (diplôme d'études approfondies). The courses
are listed below, in French. The DESS requires at least four modules,
followed by an internship period and a DESS thesis. The DEA requires
seven modules, followed by a research period, and the writing and
defense of a DEA thesis, which may lead to a doctorate.

DEA en traitement informatique multilingue (TIM)
- Introduction à la description formelle des langues
- Traitement informatique multilingue
- Introduction à la programmation linguistique
- Traitement informatique des textes
- Fondements théoriques de la terminologie

DESS en terminologie
- Principes généraux et méthodologie de la terminologie
- Pratique de la terminologie (I et II)
- Terminologie et informatique

DESS en traduction assistée par ordinateur (TAO)
- Technologies de l'information et de la communication
- Traductique
- Technologies de pointe
- Traduction automatique
- XML pour le traitement informatique multilingue

Registration:
Applications must be made before March 31, 2004. The procedure is
