The International Conference on Language Variation in Europe (ICLaVE) is a
biannual meeting addressing any aspect of linguistic variation observed in
languages spoken in present-day Europe. The conference is intended to
provide a platform for every scholar interested in issues related to this
topic, be it as a historical linguist, a dialectologist, a sociolinguist, a
specialist in grammatical theory, a psycholinguist or from any other
relevant point of view. 

On June 23-25, 2005, the Meertens Instituut in Amsterdam will host IClaVE 3. 

Keynote speakers 
-       Johan Taeldeman (U. of Ghent, Belgium) 
-       Miklós Kontra (U. of Szeged & Research Institute for Linguistics /
Hungarian Academy of Sciences, Budapest, Hungary) 
-       Shana Poplack (U. of Ottawa, Canada) 

The Scientific Committee for IClaVE invites offers of papers in any area of
language variation in European languages. The offers should contain a clear
sketch of the subject matter (research question/hypothesis, method,
results, discussion) of for a regular 30-minute Paper (20 minute
presentation; 10 minute discussion). 

The criteria for abstract selection will be: conceptual and methodological
relevance to the study of language variation, specifically in European
languages; empirical and conceptual substance; quality of argumentation;
originality. The abstracts will be reviewed anonymously by members of the
International Scientific Committee a.o.

Parallel to the sessions of regular papers, workshops will be held on the

IV CONGRESO ACLES

La Asociación de Centros de Lenguas en la Enseñanza Superior (ACLES), os
invita a participar en el IV Congreso que tendrá lugar en la Universidad
Antonio de Nebrija de Madrid (campus de la Berzosa) los días 19, 20 y 21 de
Mayo. 

El objetivo principal es continuar con la labor de diálogo e intercambio de
experiencias y proyectos que se inició en el I congreso de ACLES. Durante
este IV congreso, nos gustaría recibir propuestas de ponencias en los
siguientes paneles temáticos:
	 Didáctica y metodología,
	 Portfolio Europeo,
	 Lenguas para Fines Específicos.

El congreso contará con conferenciantes plenarios, comunicaciones y
talleres. Las comunicaciones serán de 30 minutos (incluido el tiempo
dedicado al debate), los talleres de 50 minutos. Las propuestas de
comunicaciones se pueden enviar en cualquiera de las siguientes lenguas:
español, inglés, francés, alemán e italiano.

Las personas interesadas en participar deben enviar un resumen de
doscientas palabras antes del 15 de Febrero del 2005 por correo electrónico
a eorduna at nebrija.es o mgenis at nebrija.es especificando que es para el IV
congreso de ACLES o bien enviar resumen grabado en disquette (Word 6.0 para
PC) y una copia impresa a la siguiente dirección:

antes del 15 de Julio del 2005.
