Abstracts for papers (30 minutes) and workshops (90 minutes) are being
solicited for the Ninth International Conference for English Teachers
organized by the University of Tarapacá in Arica Chile, to be held August
11-12-13,2005 in Arica. The conference theme will be THINKING
GLOBALLY/TEACHING LOCALLY. You are cordially invited to participate in
academic sessions and in regional travel throughout this unique Andean
region in Northern Chile ! DEADLINE FOR SUBMITTING YOUR ABSTRACT is April
30 2005. Please, send the abstract via e mail attachment to coningles at yahoo.com
The Congreso de Profesores de Inglés at the Universidad de Tarapacá is
an event that regularly draws secondary and University English teachers
from Chile, Peru, Argentina, Brazil, Ecuador and Bolivia, with speakers
from Latin America, the United States and Great Britain.
Abstracts for 90 minutes workshops (250 words) on TEFL, TESOL, EFL and
Applied Linguistics, as well as related topics on ESL, should indicate the
objectives, processes and expected outcome of the workshop. Abstracts for
30 minute papers (200 words) on the same topics, should clearly state
thesis and conclusion of the work to be presented.

Section: Linguistics. Conference: From Data and Information Analysis to
Knowledge Engineering
CALL FOR PAPERS
>From March 9 - 11, 2005, the 29th Annual Conference of the German
Classification Society - Gesellschaft für Klassifikation, GfKl - a member
of the International Federation of Classification Societies (IFCS) will be
held at the Otto-von-Guericke-University Magdeburg (Germany), under the
General Topic »From Data and Information Analysis to Knowledge
Engineering«. GfKl 2005 focuses on the transfer of methods from data and
information analysis to knowledge engineering and on the challenges
inherent to various types of information for a large number of application
areas.
Following a longer tradition, there will also be a section concentrating on
linguistic topics and related themes, organized by Hans Goebl (Salzburg
University) and Peter Grzybek (Graz University). Particularly quantitative
approaches to language and text in a broad understanding of these terms are
welcome.
Conference languages are English and German, presentations are 20 plus 5
minutes for discussion.

Submission Guidelines.
A Call for Papers is also available as a pdf-file. The post-conference
proceedings will be published by Springer-Verlag in the 'Studies in
Classification, Data Analysis, and Knowledge Organization' series.
