Description:

Assistant Professor/Associate Professor of Applied
Linguistics/Director of Language Instruction

Rank is negotiable.  Candidates must hold or anticipate a Ph.D. in
Spanish Linguistics or a related discipline by August 1, 2005.

Area of Specialization: Spanish Linguistics specializing in second
language acquisition, pedagogy, assessment and/or other relevant area
of applied linguistics.  Native or near-native competence in Spanish
and English.  Evidence of strong teaching and ongoing research
program.  Evidence of creative application of technology to teaching.

The successful candidate will be able to teach at all levels, from
beginning language to Master's courses in language, methodology and
linguistics.  Will direct the beginning and intermediate Spanish
language program, including modified language courses; coordinate
training for faculty teaching language courses; coordinate student
placement and serve as liaison with the School of Education.
Experience in developing curriculum for heritage speakers a plus.
