We'd like to remind readers that the responses to queries are usually
best posted to the individual asking the question. That individual is
then strongly encouraged to post a summary to the list. This policy was
instituted to help control the huge volume of mail on LINGUIST; so we
would appreciate your cooperating with it whenever it seems appropriate.
In addition to posting a summary, we'd like to remind people that it
is usually a good idea to personally thank those individuals who have
taken the trouble to respond to the query.
To post to LINGUIST, use our convenient web form at

Subject: Native Speakers' Intuitions about Newsreader Talk
Dear Linguists,
I am doing some research on how native speakers of English react to
newsreaders' speaking and reading styles. In particular I would be
interested in seeing whether the speaker's emotions are visible or not to
the listener. For this purpose I have put on the web an online test, which
includes short videoclips of high emotional impact. It is made up of 17
short clips with questions. ADSL OR HIGHER is needed to view the clips with
decent quality. It should not take more than 30 minutes to complete. I am
extremely grateful to anyone who will take the time to answer it (hoping it
will be a not-too-cumbersome holiday distraction).
There are two versions of exactly the same test, one for Windows and the
other for Mac. You can choose either according to your computer type.
I will obviously post the final results here, in early autumn.
Thank you for your time and help!

Subject: French Native Speakers for Online Experiment
Hi,
We are looking for French native speakers who participate in our online
experiment on polysemy. Preferably, the participants should be non
linguists and students. We would be glad if the French linguist list users
forward our query to their non linguist acquaintances. Every participant
has a chance to gain 50 Euro. Filling out the questionnaire will not take
more than 30 minutes. You will find our questionnaire under the following
address:

Thanks in advance
