CAPA position announcement

Georgetown University's Center for Advanced Proficiency in Arabic (CAPA)
announces one (1) full-time faculty opening.  CAPA is the new Arabic
Language Flagship Program at Georgetown University and is supported by the
National Security Education Program (NSEP).  The position begins 29 August
2005 to teach intermediate and/or advanced Arabic.   

Applicants must have experience teaching Arabic as a foreign language to
American students in a university setting.  They should also have
experience teaching spoken Arabic (a regional colloquial and/or educated
spoken Arabic) as well as written Arabic (MSA).  

Ph.D. is preferred but not required.  ACTFL Arabic proficiency testing
certification is a plus.  Areas of specialization preferred:  applied
linguistics, second language acquisition, foreign language pedagogy,
curriculum and materials development. 

Please send a letter of application, a curriculum vitae detailing classroom
teaching experience, and three letters of recommendation by 19 August 2005
(if possible).  Please write out the Center's name when mailing package to the
address below.
