Universitat Pompeu Fabra (UPF), Barcelona
Description:
The Department of Translation and Philology at Pompeu Fabra University is
offering THREE graduate assistantships for doctoral study beginning
academic year 2005-2006 (start date: October 1, 2005). Monthly stipend
between EUR 859.00 and EUR 1034.00 gross (before taxes) depending on
qualifications. The assistantships are for one year, renewable for a second
year. Extensions up to four years are possible if certain conditions are met.
Candidates should have very good grade point averages (GPAs). For
assistantships 1 & 2 successful candidates should be able to assist in the
teaching of German and/or German translation. For assistantship 3 the
successful candidate should be able to assist in the teaching of a variety
of Linguistics courses.
The assistantships are for PhD students of DTF, so incoming students must
first pre-register in either of the two doctoral programs offered by DTF
(enrollment fees covered by assistantship; pre-registration is done on-line
on DTF's webpage: http://www.upf.edu/dtf):
- Multilingual Communication: studies in translation, literature and
language. DTF's own PhD program
- Cognitive Science and Language, jointly offered by UPF and four other
Catalan universities. (Note: To be eligible students must enroll through
DTF)
Both programs have received the 'Mención de Calidad', an award for quality
in PhD training, from the Spanish Ministry of Education.

Probable deadlinesin late September or in October. The candidates awarded the
