Description:
The UCLA Department of Linguistics invites applications for an open-rank
position in Linguistics with a research specialization in East Asian languages.
Subject to budgetary restrictions, the appointment is to begin either July 1,
2006 or July 1 2007, with teaching to begin in the Fall.
Candidates should have research interests in two or more East Asian languages,
and should be able to teach courses on the linguistic structure of these
languages, as well as general courses in syntax and typology. Ability to teach
courses in linguistic field methods and/or sociolinguistics is also desirable.
Candidates should demonstrate a strong commitment to graduate and undergraduate
education. A Ph.D. in Linguistics is required.
Compensation is commensurate with academic qualifications and experience.
Applications should reach us by January 23, 2006; only applications received by
this date will be ensured of full consideration. We expect to interview
candidates at the LSA annual meeting (Jan. 5-8, 2006) in Albuquerque, NM.
Applications should include a CV, a statement of research interests, samples of
recent work, and three letters of reference.
