We'd like to remind readers that the responses to queries are usually
best posted to the individual asking the question. That individual is
then strongly encouraged to post a summary to the list. This policy was
instituted to help control the huge volume of mail on LINGUIST; so we
would appreciate your cooperating with it whenever it seems appropriate.

In addition to posting a summary, we'd like to remind people that it
is usually a good idea to personally thank those individuals who have
taken the trouble to respond to the query.

Subject: Diminutive Quantifiers in Hebrew

Hi all,

My name is Ruti kahalon and I am working on my MA thesis in Pragmatics. I
am working on diminutive quantifiers in hebrew (like the English 'few',
'little', 'a bit' etc.).

I would appericate you helping me with obtaining some material regarding
the topic

Thank you

Ruti

Subject: Grammar Texts for English Ed Teachers

Some of my colleagues and I regularly teach an English grammar
course for students studying to become English education teachers.
Some of the texts we have used in the past include:

(1) Riley, Kathryn and Frank Parker. 1998. English grammar:
Prescriptive, Descriptive, Generative, Performative. Allyn and Bacon.

(2) Clark, Mary. 2003. The Structure of English for Readers, Writers,
and Teachers. Glen Allen. College Publishing.

(3) Kolln, Martha and Robert Funk. 1998. Understanding English
Grammar, 5th edition. Allyn and Bacon.

We are now in the process of adopting a new text for this course and
would like to benefit from the comments of colleagues who may be
teaching similar kinds of courses in other institutions. We are
particularly interested in
hearing from those who have experience with a text that they find very
useful.

I will gladly post a summary of responses to this inquiry to the list.

Many thanks,

Larry LaFond
