Meeting Description:

Rarissima and rara, features and properties found only in one or very few
languages, tell us as much about the capacities and limits of human
language(s) as do universals. Explaining the existence of such rare
phenomena on the one hand, and the fact of their rareness or uniqueness on
the other, should prove a reasonable and interesting challenge to any
theory of how human language works. 

Send your one-page abstract to Jan Wohlgemuth at the address below, either
by email (preferably in PDF format) or as hard copy, to arrive no later
than November 1st, 2005.

Papers should be presented in English. The time allotted for presentation
is 30 minutes plus 15 minutes for discussion. Notification of acceptance is
by December 15th, 2005.

The abstract itself should contain no identification of the author. A
separate sheet or the cover e-mail should contain the title of the
abstract, the name(s) of the author(s), and one correspondence address,
with institutional affiliation, mailing address, telephone, fax, and email
address as available:

AELFE is pleased to annouce its 4th International Conference held in
Cáceres from October 3 to October 5, 2005. Deadline for abstract submission
is March 20. Please refer to our web site for further information. 

We are pleased to inform you that the 4th INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE OF AELFE
will be held in Cáceres, Spain, at ''El Brocense'' Cultural Institution,
more commonly known as the Complejo San Francisco on the 3rd, 4th and 5th
(Monday to Wednesday) of October 2005.

We propose, on this occasion, the following theme for the Conference:
LANGUAGES FOR SPECIFIC PURPOSES AND THE NEW EUROPEAN FRAMEWORK: ACADEMIC
AND PROFESSIONAL CONTEXTS. We believe that this topic will provide the
basis for an interesting forum of debate, since the process of
homogenization of study programmes and formative credits in European
universities is a subject of current interest, and consequently has much
bearing on our teaching and research context. We therefore encourage all
participants to submit proposals relevant to this issue before March 20.
