Last Call for Papers:
The Ph.D. Research School in Linguistics and Philology at the University of
Bergen will host the First Scandinavian Ph.D. Conference in Linguistics and
Philology in Bergen, June 13-15, 2005.
Invited speakers at the conference are:
- Jostein Børtnes, University of Bergen
- Lita Lundquist, Copenhagen Business School
- Christer Platzack, Lund University
We welcome one-page abstracts on all aspects of Linguistics, Philology and
related disciplines. The abstracts should be submitted anonymously,
preferably in PDF-format, to the conference official
e-mail, doktorandkonferanse at uib.no, no later than February 1, 2005.
Notifications on abstracts will be sent out on March 1, 2005. All queries
should be directed to doktorandkonferanse at uib.no.
English will be the official language of the conference and we encourage
all participants to submit their abstracts in English, although abstracts
in any of the Scandinavian languages will not be rejected. We also welcome
abstracts from Ph.D. Students outside of Scandinavia.

The 7th annual Chinuk Lu7lu (Chinook Jargon Gathering & Workshop) will be
held Sunday, June 5th through Tuesday, June 7th at the University of
Victoria, BC. (Those attending the Stabilizing Indigenous Languages
symposium at UVic, which ends June 5th, may wish to stay on for our
gathering.) Aboriginal people, scholars in all fields, and other
interested people will be meeting to teach and learn Chinook Jargon (CJ)
and exchange information on its current and historical use. On-campus
conference housing is available. Submissions of papers and other
presentations on CJ are invited, and should be sent to Dave Robertson,
