Subject: New Yorker: Last Words: A Language Dies
The current issue of the New Yorker (6 June 2005) has an article by
Elizabeth Kolbert, 'Last Words: A Language Dies,' which prominently
features Eyak (Athabaskan), Chief Marie Smith Jones (the last speaker of
Eyak), and the work of linguist and endangered language activist Michael
Krauss (U Alaska Fairbanks).
The on-line version of the New Yorker does *not* include the article.
