JOURNAL OF POLITENESS RESEARCH
Language, Behaviour, Culture
Edited by Chris Christie
www.degruyter.com/journals/jpr
Your free online access to the inaugural issue (Volume 1-1, 2005) is
available until July 15, 2005. For more information and to receive your
password, please contact Julia Ulrich at julia.ulrich at degruyter.com.
The JOURNAL OF POLITENESS RESEARCH broadens and sharpens the understanding
of the nature of politeness by providing a much-needed forum for synergies
to develop between researchers approaching politeness from different
disciplinary angles. The journal also strengthens and widens the existing
cross-cultural and intercultural body of politeness research by encouraging
new contributions from less studied cultures and languages.
Politeness has interested researchers in fields as diverse as foreign
language teaching, developmental psychology, social psychology,
sociolinguistics, linguistic pragmatics, social anthropology, business
studies, cultural studies, sociology, communication studies and gender
studies. The Journal of Politeness Research is the first dedicated,
international, multi-disciplinary outlet for original research in
politeness phenomena from these diverse fields and beyond.
