I posted a query in Linguist 15.3051
(http://linguistlist.org/issues/15/15-3051.html) regarding the Ottawa
language and first/second person participants, particularly in the
following areas:

"1) the Ottawa language in general and the Walpole Island area in particular 
2) animacy hierarchy systems in Algonquian languages 
3) language contact and effects on language structure (rather than lexical
    borrowing) 
4) elicitation methodology focusing on first/second person constructions 
5) any related topics which come to mind"

My apologies for the delay in posting a summary of responses.  I received
some very helpful references, and I wish to thank Kiel Christianson,
Reijirou Shibasaki, Julie Brittain, Pete Unseth, John Lawler, David Y.
Oshima, and James L. Fidelholtz for responding to my query.

Kiel Christianson provided me with a copy of his dissertation from Michigan
State University on sentence processing in Odawa and the powerpoint
presentation from a talk on language contact and change centering on Odawa
vs. Ojibwa passive constructions.

Reijirou Shibasaki sent me a list of several references related to the topic.

Julie Brittain gave me some references on the animacy hierarchy and other
Algonquian topics:

Doctoral dissertation, University of British Columbia.

Pete Unseth gave me two references on obviation:

--Weaver, Deborah. 1983. ''The effect of language change and death on
obviation in Michif.'' In William Cowan (ed.), Actes du quatorzième congrès
des Algonquinistes, 261-68. Ottawa: Carleton University 

--Weaver, Deborah. 1982. Obviation in Michif. M.A. thesis. University of
North Dakota. 90 pp. (It was published as a separately bound supplement to
the UND SIL workapers in the summer of 1982.) 

John Lawler suggested I contact Richard Rhodes, who has done considerable
work on the Ottawa language.

David Oshima sent me the URL for a manuscript on direct/inverse systems in
groups of languages, including Algonquian.

James Fidelholtz referred me to his thesis: _Micmac morphophonemics_ (MIT,
1967/1968). He also gave some helpful comments regarding elicitation.

I am still working on the topic and have found these references very
helpful. Many thanks to the respondents for their assistance.
