We'd like to remind readers that the responses to queries are usually
best posted to the individual asking the question. That individual is
then strongly encouraged to post a summary to the list. This policy was
instituted to help control the huge volume of mail on LINGUIST; so we
would appreciate your cooperating with it whenever it seems appropriate.
In addition to posting a summary, we'd like to remind people that it
is usually a good idea to personally thank those individuals who have
taken the trouble to respond to the query.
To post to LINGUIST, use our convenient web form at

Subject: Arabic Generator
I am a researcher working on an English - Arabic Transfer MT system. Could
you guide me to a suitable Arabic generator?
My Research is based on the transfer approach to MT (English-Arabic). The
reseach is divided into three stages: analysis, transfer and synthesis. The
analysis is based on the HPSG with LKB parser. The Transfer stage is based on
semantic (MRS)and syntactic transfer. I need for the synthesis a generator that
can take the output of the transfer stage in order to generate the Arabic target
language equivalent of the source language sentence.

Dear list
I am looking for TV documentaries and films about Endangered Languages, or
where language endangerment or revitalization is part of the story told. I
am only aware of two such productions: ''Vanishing Voices'' on Chulym
(Turkic) by American PBS and ''De lêste lûden fan in taal'' (''The last
sounds of a language'') by Frisian Television, also on Siberian lgs, I
believe. But surely there must be (many?) more?
I will post a summary.
Thank you for your help.
