CALL FOR PAPERS
The Department of English Studies of the University of Cyprus is organizing a
conference on dialectal and bidialectlal education. The aim of the conference is
to discuss research on a) dialectal and bididalectal education, b) mother-tongue
education, c) non-standard languages, d) local and multiple literacies and e)
language-in-education policy and planning. Papers in all these areas will be
considered.

Workshop on Language Processing

Abstracts are invited on original and unpublished research on all aspects in the
domain of language processing in Spanish, Portuguese or other Iberian languages
(Catalan, Galician, etc.), including, but not limited to: phonological
processing, lexical processing, syntactic processing, semantic and discourse
processing, and language production.
The workshop will feature an address by Manuel Carreiras, of the Universidad de
La Laguna (Spain), whose principal interests are focused in the study of visual
word recognition, sentence comprehension and the cortical representation of
human language.
The workshops will be incorporated within a broader context of linguistic
activity at The Pennsylvania State University: the Workshop on Linguistic
Convergence and the joint meeting of the Hispanic Linguistics Symposium and the
Conference on the Acquisition of Spanish and Portuguese as First and Second
Languages, to be held November 10-13, 2005. These workshops and symposia feature
plenary addresses by James Emil Flege (University of Alabama), José Ignacio
Hualde (University of Illinois), Antonella Sorace (University of Edinburgh),
Almeida Jacqueline Toribio (The Pennsylvania State University), and Juan
Uriagereka (University of Maryland).
Abstract deadline: June 1, 2005.
Abstracts for the Workshop on Language Processing must be at most one page long
on a letter-size sheet (8''1/2 by 11'') with one-inch margins and typed in at
least 11-point font. An optional second page is permitted for data and
references. Abstracts must be anonymous.
Individuals may submit only once as presenter. Multiple-authored submissions for
different projects will be accepted with the restriction that any person may be
the first author on only a single submission. Please note that no changes in
authorship (including deleting an author or changing author order) will be
possible after the review process is completed.
Abstracts must be submitted as a PDF file. Electronic submissions for this
workshop should be sent to the following e-mail address: processing at psu.edu
Please use 'Processing Abstract' as the Subject header and include the
information in (1) - (6), which should constitute the body of the message.
