Description:
The Department of Anthropology at the University of Alaska, Fairbanks,
announces a tenure-track position (nine-month appointment) at the level of
Assistant or Associate Professor in the field of linguistic anthropology.
Duties include the teaching of courses in anthropology and linguistics at
the undergraduate and graduate levels; undergraduate advising and graduate
supervision; research; and university and public service.
PhD in Linguistic Anthropology (or related fields) required by the
beginning of the contract period.
Preferred:
1) Alaska or circumpolar expertise or interest;
2) broad theoretical knowledge of the discipline and subdiscipline;
3) successful teaching experience;
4) established record of research (including publications);
5) established record of collaboration with communities, especially minority
language communities;
6) regional and topical specialization that complements the department's strengths.
