Meeting Description:
OID3 is an international conference on discourse and interaction, to be held in
Turku, Finland, 9?13 August, 2006. Organized by the Interaction Research Group
at the Departments of English, Finnish, French and German, the conference is a
sequel to Organization in Discourse (held in 1994) and Organization in Discourse
II: The Historical Perspective (held in 2002).

OID3 will bring together researchers working on discourse studies, interactional
linguistics and pragmatics. We now invite abstracts for papers and posters
dealing with discourse from an interactional perspective in any language and any
period, as well as proposals for thematic sessions. We are equally interested in
all types of interaction; spoken, written or electronic.  

The conference will open with a keynote lecture by Per Linell (Linköping
University) entitled Dialogical perspectives on language and discourse.

The other plenary speakers and their topics will be:

Maria Egbert (University of Southern Denmark), Competing principles in selecting
a turn format for other-initiated repair

Anita Fetzer (Lüneburg University), Contexts in context: micro meets macro

Risto Hiltunen (University of Turku), Courtroom interaction: a historical
perspective

Linda Waugh (University of Arizona), Pronominal choice in French conversational
interaction: change in progress, indices of linguistic and cultural identity,
and markers of ideological stance

Simeon Yates (Sheffield Hallam University), Exploring computer-mediated
communication through discourse analytic methods: implications for CMC, DA
methods and DA theory


Proposals for thematic sessions (300 words) must be received by 15 November,
2005. Notification of acceptance will be made in December. The sessions will
then be advertised on the conference website, and prospective participants
should submit their abstracts according to the guidelines below. The conveners
will be responsible for arranging the format of the sessions; 90-minute and
120-minute slots will be available.

Abstracts for papers for general and thematic sessions (500 words) as well as
posters (300 words) must be received by 15 February, 2006. Please include a list
of 3 to 4 keywords at the end of the abstract. Notification of acceptance will
be made in March, 2006. Papers in the general sessions will be twenty minutes in
length, followed by five minutes for discussion.

E-mail submission, with the abstract attached in RTF format, is strongly preferred.

The working languages of the conference will be English, French and German. We
welcome abstracts and presentations in all of these languages.

7th Chinese Lexical Semantics Workshop (CLSW-7)

The 7th Chinese Lexical Semantics Workshop (CLSW-7) will be held on May 22-23,
2006 at National Chiao Tung University, Hsin Chu, Taiwan. The previous
conferences have been held in different Asia Pacific cities: Hong Kong, Beijing,
Taipei, Singapore, and Xiamen. CLSW has become one of the most important
meetings in Asia for scholars of Chinese Lexical Semantics and related fields,
such as Theoretical Linguistics, Information Processing and Computational
Lexicography. 

The aim of the 7th Chinese Lexical Semantics Workshop is to bring together
researchers interested in any aspect of Chinese lexical semantics. Topics of
interest for the workshop include theoretical, computational or applicational
issues of lexical semantic research. Papers are invited in (but not limited to)
the following areas:   
? Lexical Semantics
? Formal Semantics
? Cognitive Semantics
? Lexical Semantics and Functional Syntax
? Lexical Semantics and Natural Language Processing
? Lexical Semantics and Construction Grammar
? Lexical Semantics and Psycholinguistics/Neurolinguistics

? Lexicalization & Grammaticalization
? Construction of Lexical semantic web

Papers on any topic in Chinese Lexical Semantics and related fields are
cordially welcome.

SUBMISSION GUIDELINES: 
An author may submit at most one single and one joint abstract. In the case of
joint authorship, one address should be designated for communication with
CLSW-7. Abstracts should be as specific as possible, with statements of topic,
approach/methodology, analysis and conclusion. Abstracts are limited to two A4
pages in 12-point font with 1'' margins. Data and examples must be given within
the body of the text rather than at the end, though references may be included
on a separate page, if necessary. 

Authors must send TWO electronic files formatted as Adobe Acrobat PDF files. 

One should be anonymous; the other should include the name, affiliation and
email address of the author(s).
