Linguistic Field(s): Discourse Analysis

Meeting Description:

The 3rd International Conference of Linguistic Discourse Analysis
University of Minho
Braga, Portugal
10-11 November, 2005.

The 3rd International Conference of Linguistic Discourse Analysis will be held at the University of Minho, in Braga, Portugal, on 10-11 November, 2005.

As a follow-up to previous meetings, this conference sets out to reflect upon the broad area of Linguistic Discourse Analysis (LDA), with a special emphasis on the topic of modalization. Being a central concern in today's LDA, modalization constitutes a complex and polemic theme, in terms not only of definition, but also of the areas it covers and the questions it raises.

This conference, whose subtitle is ''Discursive Processes of Modalization'', seeks therefore to provide a profitable place for debate and discussion within the specific domain of modalization. Despite this emphasis, it also welcomes papers on other topics within LDA.
