Description:
The Department of Second Language Studies (formerly the Department of TESOL
and Applied Linguistics) seeks an applicant for a tenure-track assistant
professor in Second Language Studies, specializing in L2 phonology with an
emphasis on English. Candidate will teach classes in the MA in TESOL and Applied
Linguistics and the MA/PhD in Second Language Studies and conduct research in
second language acquisition and/or second language pedagogy. Candidates should
also be able to offer a second specialization including, but not limited to, one
or more of the following: language assessment, World Englishes, second language
sociolinguistics, experimental design, and discourse analysis. Candidates should
show evidence of scholarly potential and effective teaching. Applications should
include a cover letter, CV, statement of research interest and future plans,
three samples of research, three letters of recommendation, and evidence of
effective teaching. Screening will begin December 1, 2005 until positions are
