We'd like to remind readers that the responses to queries are usually
best posted to the individual asking the question. That individual is
then strongly encouraged to post a summary to the list. This policy was
instituted to help control the huge volume of mail on LINGUIST; so we
would appreciate your cooperating with it whenever it seems appropriate.
In addition to posting a summary, we'd like to remind people that it
is usually a good idea to personally thank those individuals who have
taken the trouble to respond to the query.

Subject: Corpus Analysis
Dear Linguists:
It is great to contact you. To do a research I need to analyse a huge
corpus of texts in different disciplines. Vocabulary analysis is simply
done by TEXTSTAT software, but I don't know how to analyse syntax and
function? That is syntactic analysis and functional analysis.
Thank you for your help in advance.
Regards
Fariba Haghighi

Subject: Sentence-final Particles in Japanese Dialects
I am looking for resources on sentence-final particles in `nonstandard'
dialects of Japanese, especially those spoken in the Kansai region (Osaka,
Kyoto, Nara ...) and in the Ryukyus. It would be very helpful if anyone
could direct me to published (or unpublished) work on these particle
systems. Resources in Japanese would also be useful, since I read Japanese
as well.
