Many universities have offered to take students from universities affected
by Katrina on short notice. Perhaps faculty from those institutions should
post to Linguist List to help students find courses for the Fall semester
as quickly as possible. Eastern Michigan University's offer is posted at:

Greetings Linguists!
A newly digitized issue of a classic journal from the linguists who bring
you Speculative Grammarian--the premier scholarly journal featuring
research in the neglected field of satirical linguistics--is now available
online for your browsing pleasure.
http://SpecGram.com/JLSSCNC.I.4/
'Gaugauh Kamadugha', Vol 1, Num 4 of The Journal of the Linguistic Society
of South-Central New Caledonia, includes the usual selection of
high-quality articles, poetry, book reviews, and more!
ALSO OF INTEREST to many of our readers, the editors of SpecGram are
honored to announce that we have secured permission from the editors and
previous publisher to reprint the classic anthologies _Lingua Pranca_ and
_Son of Lingua Pranca_. These two anthologies were originally published by
the Indiana University Linguistics Club in 1978 and 1979, and feature
satirical linguistics articles by Bernard Comrie, Tom Ernst, James D.
McCawley, Ken Miner, Evan Smith, Leonard Talmy, and others.
More than 25 years after their initial publication, _Lingua Pranca_ and
_Son of Lingua Pranca_ will be made readily available to the linguistics
community on the SpecGram website over the course of 2006 and 2007,
respectively.
An all-new issue of SpecGram will be out in October, too. Enjoy!
