Description:
Linguistics Department at the University of Kansas invites applications for
a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Cognitive Neuroscience,
starting August 18, 2006. A Ph.D. in Linguistics or related field with a
specialization in cognitive neuroscience, neurolinguistics, or
psycholinguistics is required. The successful candidate will have a strong
record of research in cognitive neuroscience and potential for external
funding. Preferred qualifications include excellence in teaching and
record of external funding. The successful candidate would contribute to
the climate of diversity in the College, including a diversity of scholarly
approaches. Responsibilities will include maintaining an active research
program, supervising graduate and undergraduate research, teaching courses
in the area of expertise, and contributing to departmental governance. We
seek applicants whose interests and experience intersect with existing
research in the department.
The University of Kansas has emphasized Cognitive Neuroscience with several
recent hires in the behavioral sciences. Interdisciplinary research on the
processing of language and speech and its neural correlates is currently
pursued across a number of departments including Linguistics, Psychology,
and Speech-Language-Hearing, as well as at the University of Kansas Medical
Center and its state-of-the-art Hoglund Brain Imaging Center.
