Dear linguists,

 I am a high school teacher in Japan, but I have been interested in
linguistics, especially syntax and semantics, for more than 15 years.  I am
now trying to write a paper on so-called crossover phenomena like (1),
which are generally judged as unacceptable.  And I am interested in the
grammaticality of Haik's (1984) example in (2).

(1) *His mother loves everyone.  (his = everyone)
(2) Everyone told her mother that his wife should get a job.
     (her = his wife) (his = everyone).

The sentence (2) is said to be grammatifcal even though the pronoun ''her''
is not c-commanded by the phrase it depends on (''his wife'').
    
 I want to know how good the sentence (2) is, and if it is acceptable, I
wonder whether the sentence (3) is acceptable or not, which contans ''her
mother'' and ''his wife'' in the same minimal clause.

(3) Everyone said that her mother loves his wife.
     (her mother = his wife) (his = everyone)

I m preparing my Ph.D dissertation on Wh-constructions in Moroccan Arbic , 
viz. Wh-questions and relatives . My investigation is carried out within 
Chomsky's (1995: Ch 4)Minimalist framework. The Hypothesis I am 
defending is that all Feature checking processes in these two constructions 
are performed pre-Spell out . I 'm asking if anyone can help me with some 
relevant information in this direction.
