Meeting Description:

Interspeech 2007 is the eighth conference in the annual series of
Interspeech events and also the tenth biennial Eurospeech conference. The
conference is jointly organized by scientists from the Netherlands and
Belgium, and will be held in Antwerp, Belgium, August 27-31, 2007, under the
sponsorship of the International Speech Communication Association (ISCA).

The Interspeech meetings are considered to be the top international
conferences in spoken language processing, with more than 1000 attendees
from universities, industry, and government agencies. The conference offers
the prospect of meeting the future leaders of our field, exchanging ideas,
and exploring opportunities for collaboration, employment, and sales through
keynote talks, tutorials, technical sessions, exhibits, and poster sessions.
In recent years the Interspeech meetings have taken place in a number of
exciting venues including most recently Pittsburgh, Lisbon, Jeju Island
(Korea), Geneva, Denver, Aalborg (Denmark), and Beijing. 

2nd Call for Papers

ISCA and the Interspeech 2007 organizing committee would like to 
encourage submission of papers for the upcoming conference. This 
conference is jointly organized by scientists from the Netherlands 
and Belgium, and will be held in Antwerp (August 27-31, 2007).

Paper Submission:

The deadline for full paper submission (4 pages) is March 23, 2007. 
Paper submission is done exclusively via the conference website,
using the submission guidelines. These guidelines will mention that
authors also have the opportunity to include a restricted number of 
multimedia files in their submission. 

Previously-published papers should not be submitted, nor papers 
already submitted and/or accepted for publication in journals or 
upcoming conferences.

At the time of submission, authors will have the opportunity to 
specify that they would like to present their paper in one of the 
Special Sessions. All the information on Special Sessions and how 
to contribute to them will be available on the Interspeech 2007 
website by the time the paper submission opens.

Each corresponding author will be notified by e-mail of the acceptance 
or rejection of her/his paper by May 25, 2007. Minor updates of accepted
papers will be allowed during May 25 - June 3, 2007.

Meeting Description:

In March 1992 the University of Manchester hosted its first Postgraduate Linguistics Conference. Since then, this annual event has gained popularity and it now draws participants from across the world to exchange ideas in a relaxed but stimulating environment. 

The aim of the conference is to bring together postgraduates from within the various areas of the discipline for them to present current research to their peers. A well-known guest speaker will be invited to give the plenary talk (details to be confirmed). We hope the day will be rewarding for all, both in learning and establishing new contacts. 

The PG Conference will be held at the University of Manchester on Friday 20th April 2007, from 9.00am to 6.00pm.

Any postgraduate student (MA or PhD) is very welcome to submit an abstract on any topic related to linguistics. 

Papers will be 20 minutes in length plus 10 minutes discussion. 

Parallel sessions will allow twenty papers to be given. 

Refreshments and lunch will be provided during the day (payment included in the registration fee), and an informal conference dinner in the evening will also be organised for all those interested. Suggestions for overnight accommodation can be provided on request. 

Please send abstracts by email in Word or PDF version to the conference email address PLC at manchester.ac.uk by 31st January 2007. They should have a maximum of 300 words (excluding references). If you are using any special font, please attach them to the document and let us know. Together with the abstract, you should provide a cover sheet with the following information: your name, your affiliation (department and university), your email address (the one you check regularly), the title of the paper, and the area of research (e.g. syntax, phonetics, psycholinguistics, etc.). Authors of selected abstracts will be informed in February. The papers presented will be published in our annual series of proceedings (PLUM).
