The University of Macau is a government-funded institution located in the Macao
Special Administrative Region of the People's Republic of China. The Department
of English in the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities invites applications
for an academic position in the following area:
General Linguistics (Reference No.:FSH/DENG/GL/12/2007)
Qualifications
The successful applicant must have a distinguished record of research and
publication and will be required to develop and support the research profile of
the Department. The position is for a generalist with expertise in English
linguistics. An interest in the English language in an Asian context is also
highly desirable. Teaching responsibilities include undergraduate and graduate
courses in general linguistics and research methodology, as well as MA and PhD
thesis supervision. Candidates should have the background and qualifications to
pursue an active programme of research in one or more of the following areas of
expertise: discourse analysis, pragmatics, pyscholinguistics, computational
linguistics.
Taxable Annual Salary
The salary level shall be determined according to the appointee's academic
qualifications, current position, and professional experience:
Associate Professor: MOP588,000 - MOP661,500
Assistant Professor: MOP477,750 - MOP551,250
(USD1 approx. = MOP8)
Selected candidates are requested to assume duty in September 2007.
