Description:
The Department of Linguistics and English Language and the Faculty of Arts and
Social Sciences invite applications for a doctoral studies bursary consisting of
PhD fees at UK/EU rates and a maintenance stipend of £10,000 per year for up to
three years. The successful candidate will conduct his/her PhD research in the
Department, and he/she will take on a coordinating and teaching role in the
pre-sessional EAP/Study Skills courses run by the Department in July-September
each year. Please note that this award is ONLY available to candidates who
qualify for UK/EU fee rates.
Further details:
The EAP/Study Skills Doctoral Studies Bursary Award (2006) consists of a stipend
and PhD student fees (N.B: ONLY available for students eligible for UK/EU rates)
for up to three years. The bursary will be awarded on a competitive basis and
the award holder will be committed to:
i) completing a PhD (desirably, but not necessarily, in the area of language
teaching/applied linguistics) supervised by a member of staff in the Department
of Linguistics and English Language;
ii) being involved in the Department's annual EAP/Study Skills programme for
research, training and professional development purposes.
