Description:

The Department of German Language and Literature at the University of
Goettingen invites applications for a junior professorship "Deutsche
Philologie / Sprachwissenschaft (Deutsche Sprache)", opening October 1st,
2006. The position is a Juniorprofessur (W1 in the German salary ranking)
limited to three years, with an extension for another 3 years after
evaluation, and with a tenure track option (to German W2, BBesO). 

The successful applicant has a training in German linguistics (present day
German) with a focus on formal syntax of modern German and/or
psycholinguistics. The department welcomes cooperation with neighboring
institutions and centers at the University of Goettingen, as well as active
participation in teaching the curriculae for undergraduate studies
(Lehramt, Magister, Diplom Wirtschaftspaedagogik, M.A./ B.A.) and at the
graduate level (Ph.D.). The application requires a finished Ph.D. degree.
Applicants from German universities should not have been occupied as
wissenschaftliche Hilfskraft or wissenschaftliche/r Mitarbeiter/in for more
than six years (incl. Ph.D. studies) after having finished the first
degree. Only applicants who have not received their Ph.D. from Goettingen,
or who have done research outside Goettingen for at least two years after
their Ph.D. degree are eligible for tenure. (See §30 et al. of the
