Multilingualism across Europe: findings, needs, best practices 

This is the second call for submissions to the conference on ''Mulitlingualism
across Europe'' organized by the Institute for Specialised Communication and
Multilingualism at the European Academy Bozen/Bolzano (Eurac) of Bolzano from
24th to 26th of August 2006.

Keynote Speakers at the conference will be: 

-	Prof. Konrad Ehlich (Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München)
-	Prof. Rita Franceschini (Free University of Bozen/Bolzano)
-	Prof. Christer Laurén (Vasa Universitet)
-	Prof. Oskar Putzer (Leopold-Franzens Universität Innsbruck)

We welcome submissions in the following areas: 

1. Language learning and motivation (key words: attitudes, believes,
representations, innovative methods of language learning/teaching, BLL, CLIL?)
2. Status and prestige (key words: status versus prestige of languages, language
and law, parallel drafting, minority languages?)
3. Language learning and new technologies (key words: CALL, teaching and
learning with new methods, electronic dictionaries, internet resources?)
4. Promotion and sensitisation of language awareness (key words: good practice,
introduction of language projects)
5. Language Evolution: anthropological and social approaches (key words: brain,
language evolution, indoeuropean therories, memes, co-evolution, language and

Meeting Description:

The Linguistics Program at Concordia University in Montreal, Quebec
will host the Fourth North American Phonology Conference (NAPhC) from
May 12-14th, 2006. Abstract submission is invited on any area of
theoretical phonology, or related disciplines.

Abstract length is not limited--complete papers may be submitted for
evaluation, as, of course, may abstracts of briefer scope. Abstracts
may be submitted and papers may be presented in either French or
English.

We are pleased to announce that the following phonologists
have accepted invitations to the conference:

Eugene Buckley, Penn
Michael Kenstowicz, MIT
Curt Rice, CASTL Tromso

Accepted papers will be allotted 40 minutes, including discussion time.
Papers not accepted as talks will be considered for the Poster Sessions.
Please indicate in your message if you do NOT want to be considered for
a poster presentation.

Abstracts must be submitted electronically to

naphc at modlang-hale.concordia.ca

Deadline for receipt of abstracts is March 15, 2006. Registration
information will be provided after the announcement of the program on
April 1, 2006.

Preferred formats in decreasing order are pdf, ps, plain text, WORD
(Mac or Windows), WordPerfect (Mac or Windows). Word and Wordperfect
users should use no other phonetics fonts than SIL Doulos (available
at http://www.sil.org ). If you make a ps file under Windows or Mac,
please verify its integrity before sending it.
