The Romance Turn II (Workshop on the Acquisition of Romance Languages)
September 7-9 2006 at the UiL OTS, Utrecht University

The Romance Turn II will take place at Utrecht University (Netherlands). Like
the first edition of The Romance Turn, which took place in 2004 at the UNED in
Madrid, the present workshop intends to gather people working on the acquisition
of the Romance languages.
Workshop topics
Papers are invited in the area of the acquisition of Romance languages. All
topics in the fields of (typical and impaired) first and second language
acquisition from a generative perspective will be considered. Presentations will
be 30-minutes long, plus 15 minutes for discussion, and will be in English.

Abstract submission
Authors are invited to send one copy of an abstract (maximally two pages) in
English for review. Abstracts should be submitted via e-mail to
Romanceturn at let.uu.nl, as an attachment in PDF. In the body of the e-mail
message include the title, language, name, academic affiliation, current
address, phone and fax number, e-mail, and audiovisual requests. Authors may
submit up to two abstracts, one individual and one joint.
Deadline for receipt of abstracts: April 1 2006.
Notification of acceptance: May 1 2006.

2nd Call for Papers-EUROSLA 2006
The 16th Annual Conference of the European Second Language Association will be
organized by Bogazici University, Department of Foreign Language Education. The
conference will be held in Antalya, Turkey.
THEME: Theories of Second Language Acquisition and Their Implications

ABSTRACT SUBMISSION INFORMATION:
Proposals for papers and posters on any aspect of second language acquisition
research are invited. All topics in the field of second language acquisition
from all theoretical perspectives will be considered. Priority will be given to
abstracts that discuss the theoretical implications of the SLA research they
report on. All submissions will be reviewed anonymously and evaluated in terms
of originality, clarity, and significance of findings and conclusions.
Each author may submit no more than one individual and one co-authored abstract.
The paper must not have been previously published.
INDIVIDUAL PAPERS will be allotted 30 minutes (20 minutes plus 10 minutes for
discussion).
POSTERS are intended as a format for reports of work in progress.
Submissions for posters and papers should include (in the following order):
1. the title of the paper
2. name and affiliation of the author(s)
3. an abstract of 300 words
4. the first author's postal address
5. the first author's e-mail address
6. type of presentation: please indicate whether you would like your proposal to
be considered for a poster, a paper, or both.
DOCTORAL STUDENT WORKSHOPS
The organization committee of the 16th EUROSLA conference invites PhD students
working in the field of SLA to present a paper in English (15 minutes
presentation + 15 minutes feedback/discussion). The presenters should focus on
theoretical or methodological problems they encounter in their thesis work.
If your paper proposal is accepted for the doctoral workshop, you will be asked
to send a more extensive summary of your thesis to the discussant of your paper.
If you would like to present a paper in doctoral workshops, your submission
should include:
1. the title of the paper
2. name and affiliation of the author
3. an abstract of 300 words
4. the author's postal address
5. the author's e-mail address
6. the name of one or more researcher (in the field) with whom you would like to
discuss your problems in the workshops.
We ask that all abstracts be submitted via e-mail. If this is not possible,
please contact the EUROSLA 2006 conference committee at the address below to
make arrangements to submit an abstract by regular mail. All submissions must be
received by January 31, 2006.
The text of the abstract (including the title) should be in an attachment (MS
Word or rtf format). In the body of the e-mail message, include (1) the title of
the paper, (2) name and affiliation of the author(s), and (3) the first author's
postal address (4) the first author's e-mail address. (5) type of presentation:
indicate whether you would like your proposal to be considered for a poster, a
paper, or both. In the subject heading of your e-mail, please give the full
title (or a short working title) of your paper.
