Description:
The Department of Linguistics, University of Cambridge is
looking for a Research Associate to join a team working on an
AHRC-funded project to describe and account for the historical
development of negation in the languages of Europe (see
http://www.mml.cam.ac.uk/ling/research/negation_proj.html).
Applicants must have a PhD in a relevant area of linguistics.
Expertise in the historical syntax of at least one European
language or language group and in syntactic theory are also
essential. Knowledge of principles of syntactic change, child
language acquisition and language contact are desirable.
Preference may be given to candidates with expertise in
Romance historical linguistics. The post will begin on 1 March
2006 or as soon as possible thereafter and last for 3 years, 7
months.
