Meeting Description:
The 19th Annual Meeting of the Language Origins Society (LOS) and the first meeting of the Psychiatric Brain and Language Research Society (PBLRS) will be held jointly August 24 through 27, 2006 in Barga (LU), Italy.The title of the PBLRS meeting is 'Cognitive and Language Impairments in Bipolar Disorders and Psychoses: The Speciation of Homo Sapiens and Mental Illness.' The LOS program will include a selection of papers on all aspects of the origins and evolution of spoken, written, and signed languages. The invited LOS speaker is Francesco d'Errico, Institut de Préhistoire et de Géologie du Quaternaire of the University of Bordeaux.

In the first part of the Conference (24-25 August) the PBLRS papers will be delivered. The aim of this part is to gather studies, achievements and experiences from scholars working on language origins and Homo Sapiens speciation and its links with language pattern in
psychoses. The title of the PBLRS meeting is Cognitive and Language Impairments in Bipolar Disorders and Psychoses: The Speciation of Homo Sapiens and Mental Illness.
In the second part (26-27 August) the LOS papers will be delivered. The program will include a selection of papers on all aspects of the origins and evolution of spoken, written, and signed languages. The title is The Origins and Evolution of Spoken, Written, and Signed Languages.
