The LINGUIST List strongly encourages employers to use
non-discriminatory standards in hiring policy. In particular we urge
that employers do not discriminate on the grounds of race, ethnicity,
nationality, age, religion, gender, or sexual orientation. However, we
have no means of enforcing these standards.
Job seekers should pay special attention to language in ads regarding
employment requirements and are encouraged to consult our international
employment page http://linguistlist.org/jobs/jobnet.html. This page has been set
up so that people can report on the employment standards of various countries.

Description:
For a robotics project with the focus on interactive learning of object
manipulations we are looking for a PhD student to adapt an existing
grounding-based dialog module to the task of interactive action learning.
In addition to imitation learning the scenario forsees online processing of
action-synchronous verbal explanations. A further focus lies on the
multi-modal representation of actions that need to be handled by the
different components for dialog modelling, action perception and action
production.
We are looking for a researcher who is motivated to take an
interdisciplinary perspective by taking problems related to robotics
research into account. In exchange we are offering an interdisciplinary
research group (combining computer science with linguistic, psychological
and sociological research) where problems are analysed and solved in an
interdisciplinary way.
Programming skills in C(++) or Java are necessary.
