Linguistic Field(s): Applied Linguistics
Meeting Description:
Language transference examines all the areas where language is transferred and
makes connections between language that is learned institutionally at school and
college and everyday language acquisition. The isbb Congress 2006 makes a
contribution to the intensive dialogue that is taking place between science and
society and among European Colleges and Institutions.
- which language competencies are imparted outside of the school environment,
- which innovations can be considered sustainable and effective in an
institutional context,
- the role that language competencies play in social and cultural integration
and in European
regions,
- how the link between institutionalised and non-institutionalised language
acquisition can be integrated and become target oriented.
These contributions from Applied Linguistics can only be effective if the
transfer between science and society is guaranteed. The Zurich University of
Applied Science Winterthur (ZHW) is engaged in transferring knowledge and
technology between those in research and the public. It considers themes and
problems and puts its resources into finding suitable solutions for the people
involved. The isbb Congress 2006 provides the ZHW with a platform from which it
can combine the interests of the public and scientific research. In so doing the
ZHW makes a contribution to the intensive dialogue that is taking place between
science and society and among European Colleges and Institutions.
