Description:
The Department of Cognitive and Linguistic Sciences at Brown University has
an opening for a 9-month visiting position for the academic year 2006-2007
at the rank of Visiting Instructor or Visiting Assistant Professor,
beginning Sept. 1, 2006.
The successful candidate will teach Introduction to Phonological Theory in
the fall semester, and two other undergraduate/graduate courses during the
year. One can be an advanced seminar in the candidate's area of
specialization, and one will be drawn from the following list of courses:
Introduction to Computational Linguistics, Topics in Phonology, Topics in
Syntax and Semantics, or Topics in Language Acquisition.
Preference will be given to applicants who have completed the Ph.D. by
August, 2006, but advanced graduate students who have completed all
requirements except the dissertation may also apply. Full consideration
will be given to applications received by June 1; applications will be
considered from that date until the position is filled. Applicants should
send a curriculum vitae and a detailed statement of teaching interests and
qualifications in these areas, a statement of any prior teaching experience
and evidence of teaching ability if available. Applicants should also
arrange to have three letters of recommendation, at least one of which
addresses the candidate's expertise and teaching ability in phonology, sent
to the Linguistics Search Committee at the Application Address below.
