Description:

The NLP-group at the Technology Department of the University Pompeu Fabra,
Barcelona offers a PhD fellowship to a qualified and motivated graduate student
to pursue research in the areas of Technical Text Summarization, Natural
Language Generation, or Computational Lexicography.

The ambitious PhD program of the University Pompeu Fabra includes classes and
common research activities for all PhD students. The stipend amounts to about
12000€/year for four years, renewable each year. Further general information is

The applicant should hold (or be about to finish) a Master degree with excellent
results in Computational Linguistics (or neighbour areas such as Formal
Linguistics or Computer Science, with application to NLP).

•     The candidate should have some experience in the development of electronic
grammars, in particular in the syntax-semantic fields and/or in knowledge
representation.

•     He or she should be familiar with dependency approaches to language.

•     He or she should have good programming skills and some experience in
project development and handling of large scale corpora and dictionaries.

•     The student is expected to participate in our ongoing research projects in
Natural Language Processing.
