Meeting Description:
Papers dealing with any facet of cognitive linguistics research are welcome, including research on meaning, conceptual structure, conceptual operations, cognitive processing, grammar, acquisition, language use, discourse function, and other issues. We also encourage papers that relate to the secondary conference theme, "Cognitive Linguistics, Applied"; as well as the primary theme, "New Directions".
Submissions may offer any of the following:
(i) paper presentation; (ii) theme session; (iii) poster presentation; (iv) paper or poster presentation

8th January, 2007 Deadline for Theme sessions
5th February, 2007 Deadline for paper & poster submissions
Papers may involve (but are not limited to) any of the following:
-New descriptive or theoretical insights in Cognitive Linguistics;
-Critical evaluations of the Cognitive Linguistics enterprise;
-The interface between Cognitive Linguistics and neighbouring disciplines;
-New frontiers in Cognitive Linguistics;
-Conceptual Blending in Discourse;
-Language in Interaction;
-Situated meaning;
-Distributed Cognition;
-Usage-Based Models;
-Gesture, and Sign.
In addition to papers, posters and/or theme sessions dealing with more general areas of cognitive linguistics research, we are particularly interested in research that applies cognitive linguistics methodologies to specific language contexts (e.g., classroom, law, etc.).

The Fifth University of Cambridge Postgraduate Conference in Language Research (CamLing). We invite postgraduate students to submit abstracts for oral and poster presentations on any topic of linguistic interest.
The Fifth University of Cambridge Postgraduate Conference in Language Research (CamLing) is organised with the support of the University of Cambridge Institute of Language Research (CILR), the Department of Linguistics, the Research Centre for English and Applied Linguistics (RCEAL) and Cambridge University Press (CUP). This year's conference is being collocated with Computational Linguistics UK (CLUK). We invite postgraduate students to submit abstracts for oral and poster presentations on any topic of linguistic interest.

CamLing 2007 is delighted to welcome Professor Peter Austin of the School of Oriental and African Studies at the University of London as our invited keynote speaker.

No late submissions can be accepted. Authors will be notified of acceptance/rejection by 01 February 2007.
Abstract Submission:
Abstracts may be submitted by e-mail or by post. All guidelines for formatting and submitting abstracts are available on the conference website (http://www.srcf.ucam.org/camling/call.html). Submissions that do not conform to these guidelines will not be considered.
Registration:
All presenters and attendees must register for the conference. The deadline for pre-registration is Tuesday, 13 February 2007. Delegates are free to attend the CLUK keynote as well as any CLUK sessions occurring on the Tuesday. Further details are posted on the conference website.
Presentation and Publication:
Oral presentations are allotted 20 minutes plus 10 minutes for questions. The poster session is allotted 45 minutes, though posters will be on display throughout the day. Guidelines for presentations are available on the conference website. Oral presentations are published in the CamLing Online Proceedings. Authors agree to provide camera-ready copy (up to 8 pages) by 25 May 2007.
