Description:

The Department of Linguistics, University of Ottawa, invites applications
for a tenure track position in linguistics at the Assistant Professor
level, commencing July 1, 2007. Candidates may specialize in any area of
linguistics but must have a special interest in either 1. aboriginal
languages or 2. French. Applicants should have a Ph.D. in linguistics, with
evidence of strong research potential. Preference will be given to
candidates able to teach in both English and French within a specified
period of time. At the time of tenure, professors are expected to have the
ability to function in a bilingual setting. 

Applicants should submit a CV, representative samples of their research,
and arrange for three (3) letters of recommendation to be sent directly to
Dr. Marie-Hélène Côté. 

All qualified candidates are encouraged to apply; however Canadian citizens
and permanent residents will be given priority. Equity is a University
policy. The University of Ottawa is justly proud of its 150-year tradition
of bilingualism. Through its Second Language Institute, the University
provides training to staff members and to their spouses in their second
official language.
