AFLA 14 Call for papers
We are pleased to announce that the Department of Linguistics at McGill
University (Montréal, Québec, Canada) will host AFLA 14, the 14th annual meeting
of the Austronesian Formal Linguistics Association on 4-6 May 2007.
Abstracts are invited for 30 minute talks (20 minute presentations + 10 minute
question-and-answer period) on any aspect of formal linguistics (e.g. language
acquisition, morphology, phonology, phonetics, semantics, syntax) of any
Austronesian language. Applicants are limited to only one singly-authored and
one jointly-authored abstract. Abstracts relating to this year's main themes are
particularly encouraged, although abstracts on other topics will also be
considered. This year's main themes are:
- Dialectal Variation
- Typology
- Formosan Languages
- Acquisition
Abstracts should be anonymous and should not exceed 500 words (with an
additional one page for examples, figures, trees, references, etc.) and should
be typed on pages with a one inch margin on each side and in at least 12 pt.
Times New Roman font. All abstracts are to be submitted in .pdf. Any
non-standard fonts should be embedded in the .pdf document. Please include the
word count and indicate whether your abstract involves Dialectal Variation,
Typology, Formosan Languages, Acquisition and/or Other (Morphology, Phonology,
Syntax, etc.) at the bottom of the first page of the abstract.
Abstracts are to be submitted online, beginning September 14, 2006, on the AFLA
14 website listed below. Please follow the ''Abstracts Submission'' link and
follow the instructions there. Only abstracts uploaded before the final
deadline at the conference website and only those following the guidelines
specified above will be accepted.
Submission Deadline: 23:59 EST (GMT -05:00) on September 30, 2006
Notification of acceptance: October 20, 2006
If your abstract is selected for the conference, please send a copy of your
abstract in .doc format to aflaxiv.linguistics at mcgill.ca for inclusion in the
abstract booklet.
