Subject: Microsoft Patent Application
We have the right to submit information to the Patent Office showing that an
invention is not original. This is called "protesting a patent application" and
the procedure (which I have not read through) is found at:
www.uspto.gov
I suggest that linguists who are specifically aware of prior art (i.e., prior
use of the techniques for which Microsoft is claiming originality) should get
together and compile a report, then submit it to the Patent Office and publish it.
Linguistic Field(s): Applied Linguistics
Computational Linguistics
Lexicography
