The LINGUIST List strongly encourages employers to use
non-discriminatory standards in hiring policy. In particular we urge
that employers do not discriminate on the grounds of race, ethnicity,
nationality, age, religion, gender, or sexual orientation. However, we
have no means of enforcing these standards.

Job seekers should pay special attention to language in ads regarding
employment requirements and are encouraged to consult our international
employment page http://linguistlist.org/jobs/jobnet.html. This page has been set
up so that people can report on the employment standards of various countries.

Job Rank: Post Doc

Specialty Areas: Sociolinguistics

Description:

The National Danish Research Foundation has under its International Talent
Recruitment Programme given a grant to The LANCHART Centre making it
possible to recruit a post doc to work with the data base collected by the
project. The Foundation welcomes innovatory procedures for recruiting
international scholars to Denamrk. Applications are thus invited for a
position as a post doc at the LANCHART Centre (www.lanchart.dk). The post
doc will take up her or his work on the 1st of January 2008 and the
position will last until 31st of December 2009.

Applicants must commit to carrying out a specific project involving the
data collected by the LANCHART Centre. The centre has collected spoken
language material from six sites in Denmark. The material is overwhelmingly
Danish although there are also numerous recordings with Turkish speaking
informants.

It is, however, neither a precondition for applying nor being hired that
the applicant has any previous knowledge of Danish. The Centre invites
applications from international scholars on all aspects of spoken language
stressing the need for methodologically innovative approaches to working
with large corpora of spoken materials. The Centre will select the best
qualified candidate on the basis of the material delivered for evaluation
(cf. below). Please note that we may need to interview a short list of
candidates. Interviews will take place at the beginning of December 2007.

Further information may be acquired from Director Frans Gregersen at the
email address listed below.

Applications must contain the following material:

- CV of no more than 3 pages
- list of publications
- up to three scientific publications selected for evaluation in this
connection
- a project proposal outlining what the applicant wants to achieve during
the period as a post doc
- PhD assessment committee's provisional or final evaluation
- A copy of the PhD diploma

The recipient of the Post doc position will be employed in accordance with
the current agreement between the Danish Ministry of Finance and the AC
(the Union of Academics in Denmark).

The Dean of the Faculty of Humanities, University of Copenhagen, will
appoint an assessment committee. Upon receipt of the report of the
committee, each applicant will receive the specific portion of the
committee's assessment pertinent to him/her only. Applicants will only be
assessed in relation to the announced position.

Applications are invited from qualified candidates regardless of age, sex,
race, religion or ethnic origin.

Six copies of the application must be sent to the application address
listed below with reference to J.nr. 211-0111/07-4550.

No enclosures will be accepted after the deadline.
