Meeting description:
The Ph.D. Research School in Linguistics and Philology at the University of
Bergen will host the second Scandinavian Ph.D. conference in Linguistics and
Philology in June 4-6, 2007.
Invited speakers at the conference are:
- Östen Dahl, Stockholm University
- Odd Einar Haugen, University of Bergen
- Gillian Ramchand, University of Tromsø
Last call for papers!
We welcome one-page abstracts on all aspects of Linguistics, Philology and
related disciplines. The abstracts should be submitted anonymously, preferably
in PDF-format, to the conference official e-mail, doktorandkonferanse at uib.no, no
later than February 1, 2007. Notifications on abstracts will be sent out on
March 1, 2007. All queries should be directed to doktorandkonferanse at uib.no.
English will be the official language of the conference and we encourage all
participants to submit their abstracts in English, although abstracts in any of
the Scandinavian languages will not be rejected. We also welcome abstracts from
Ph.D. Students outside of Scandinavia. The conference is sponsored in part by
NordLing, a Balto-Scandinavian network of graduate schools in language and
linguistic studies, which also awards travel grants to eligible Ph.D. Students
presenting at the conference.

MOL (Mathematics of Language) is a biannual conference devoted to the
mathematical study of languages and linguistics. Contributions to all areas of
this field are welcome. This includes, but is not limited to, the following:
- complexity and generative capacity of languages
- formal analysis of linguistic theories and frameworks
- model-theoretic and proof-theoretic methods in linguistics
- mathematical foundations of statistical and stochastic approaches to language
analysis
