Description:
Sound to Sense (S2S) is a Marie Curie Research Training Network involving
collaborative speech research amongst 13 universities in 10 countries. A
research training network's primary aim is to support and train young
researchers in professional and inter-disciplinary skills that equip them for
careers in research.
There is an opportunity for 2 Early Stage Researchers (ESRs) on Project 8:
'Prosodic structure and fine phonetic detail: segmental-suprasegmental
interaction.' The aim of this Project is to elucidate, using perception and
production studies, how disparate acoustic parameters covary to cause
language-specific interpretations of prosodic properties and conversational
functions.
The appointments will preferably start in September 2007 (Aix), and October 2007
(Cambridge). Applicants will normally work towards a PhD degree, and must have
less than 4 years' experience in postgraduate research (i.e. you will have
earned your academic qualifications for graduate study less than 4 years before
your S2S appointment starts).
For a more detailed description of this project, and for details of the other
projects within S2S, please see our website.
The appointed people will receive a standard EU stipend for the country of work,
together with allowances for relocation and language lessons etc.
