Welcome to The LINGUIST List "Fun dDrive Friday"!  Every Friday during our annual 
Fund Drive, we present our users with an alternative LINGUIST home page.  As many 
of you already know, this year's theme is Superheroes.  For your enjoyment, we 
have created a fresh look for our homepage featuring the zany work of our crew!

Showcased this year on our Fun dDrive Friday main page is our Linguist Superhero 
Comic Movie, The Amazing Adventures of The Disambiguator and The C-Commandor!  
Follow our heroes as they battle the wicked precriptivist wiles of The 
Degenerative Gramma'.  New issues of the Comic Movie will be released as our Fund 
Drive progresses, so .. Stay Tuned for the next Adventure of Our Heroes!

After you have viewed The Adventures Comic Movie, see who the REAL linguistics 
superheroes are by reading the short biographies on the Featured Linguist of the 
Day!

Keep your suspense sky high by submitting your very own LINGUIST acrostic!  You 
can also participate in the acrostic contest by voting for your favorite poem!  
We are offering prizes to inspire your creativity:
The top 10 winners will each receive a copy of
- Tongue's Palette (Poetry by Linguists) (2004). Andrew Sunshine and Donna Jo 
Napoli (Eds). This great prize was donated by poet Lise Menn, who will also 
autograph one of her poems for each winner! 
The first place winner will also receive 

- a one-year subscription to the online version of Labov's The Atlas of North 
American English, donated by Mouton de Gruyter. 
The second place winner will also receive 

- a hard-cover copy of The Language Imperative authored and donated by Suzette 
Haden Elgin. 

The third place winner will also receive 
- The Studies of Foreign Languages and Culture , volumes 1, 2 and 3, authored 
and donated by Gang Gu.

donate sign!) This year's Fund Drive is scheduled to until April 20th, but you 
can help end it even sooner by making a donation to help us reach our goal of
