Description:

The Institute for English and American Studies at the University of
Osnabrück is looking for a native speaker of American English m/f
(Remuneration according to 13 TV-L) as full-time practical language
instructor (USA/Canada).

Salary is commensurable with age, marital status and experience. Initial
contract will be until March 31, 2008, extension possible.

Teaching (16 contact hours) will focus on advanced language instruction for
undergraduate and graduate students, including pronunciation and phonology,
communication skills, grammar, rhetoric and composition. In addition, the
instructor will be expected to offer classes in North-American culture and
civilization. Evident experience in teaching English for specific purposes
(legal, medical or business English) would be highly welcome.
Administrative functions will entail student counseling, developing testing
and evaluation methods, as well as language tests and exams.

Applicants should have an excellent postgraduate qualification (MA in
(applied) linguistics, TEFL, or TESOL; or doctorate in (applied)
linguistics), documented experience in teaching at university level, and a
basic command of German.

The university aims at increasing the proportion of female academics in the
domain of research and university training. Women are thus explicitly
