================================================================
The LINGUIST List strongly encourages employers to use
non-discriminatory standards in hiring policy. In particular we urge
that employers do not discriminate on the grounds of race, ethnicity,
nationality, age, religion, gender, or sexual orientation. However, we
have no means of enforcing these standards.
Job seekers should pay special attention to language in ads regarding
employment requirements and are encouraged to consult our international
employment page http://linguistlist.org/jobs/jobnet.html. This page has been set
up so that people can report on the employment standards of various countries.

PROIEL is a project funded by the Norwegian Research Council's YFF-program.
Activities start officially on January 1st, 2008. Its principal goal is to
achieve a better understanding of the way information is structured by
means the grammar make available ('pragmatic resources') in the old
Indo-European languages Greek, Latin, Classical Armenian, Gothic and Old
Church Slavonic. The main corpus to be studied is the translations of the
New Testament into these languages, but as far as possible we will also
include other original texts to control for Greek influence.
Topics to be studied include word order, participial constructions,
pronominal reference, article use and discourse particles. Intending
applicants should contact the project leader for a fuller description of
