Description:
The Department of Foreign Language in the College of Liberal Arts at the
Rochester Institute of Technology invites applications for the tenure-track
position of Assistant Professor of Spanish. The position begins late
August, 2008. Responsibilities include teaching Spanish language courses at
all levels, primarily at the advanced level; Hispanic culture courses
taught in English; scholarly production; and collegial involvement. We
offer concentrations, minors, and electives to all RIT students as part of
the Liberal Arts curriculum, and we contribute significantly to the
International Studies degree program.
Required are the PhD in a relevant field and native or near-native fluency
in Spanish and English. Candidate must have commitment to and demonstrable
excellence in the teaching of language courses using proficiency-oriented
methodologies. The successful candidate can integrate technology into the
learning process and has a commitment to fostering global awareness.
Interest in curriculum development is desired.
