Description:
The Department of Spanish and Portuguese at the University of California,
Santa Barbara is hiring a Lecturer for a Director position starting July
1st, 2008, in charge of the Language Programs in Spanish and Portuguese.
Duties include being the instructor of record for most of the
lower-division language classes, supervising graduate student TAs and other
lecturers, planning the curricula, cultural activities, and exams for all
lower-division language courses and teaching a one-quarter Seminar on
Teaching Methodology for the new TAs.
Requirements:
(i) PhD in applied Linguistics, with a specialization in Language Pedagogy
and/or Second Language Acquisition; (ii) native or near-native fluency in
Spanish, with knowledge of Portuguese a plus. Experience supervising
graduate students as well as expertise in web technology applied to second
language instruction are highly desirable. Salary commensurate to experience.
